How To Replace the Transfer Roller on Your Xerox Printer (VersaLink B625)

Submitted by Matthew Eberhart on Wed, 08/02/2023 - 16:37

The transfer roller, a common and necessary component of all Xerox laser printers, varies depending on what model printer you are using.

Every printer model is different, and many printer parts have different configurations, replacement time intervals, and service needs, which can make changing parts on your printer frustrating.

Replacing your transfer roller when it is broken or damaged is particularly important because your printer cannot run without it.

For some, replacing printer parts may be easy to figure out with just a little bit of help. However, others can find the replacement process overly complicated and confusing when doing it on their own.

Even if you think you know how to change a part on your machine, it can still save valuable time to watch someone else do it before you give it a try.

Part One: Remove Old or Damaged Transfer Roller

1. Open your printer’s front door or cover. It will open and swing to the left.

2. First, remove your toner by pulling it straight out using the orange handle.

3. Next, you will remove your imaging unit, also called a drum, straight out.

5. Use your finger to lift the roller using the small orange handle on the right side of the roller. Lift up until the roller releases. Use two fingers to lift with the orange handle so it doesn’t slip from your grasp.

6. Lift up and out, wiggling the roller when necessary.

Part Two: Insert New Transfer Roller

1. That was simple, right? Going back in is almost just as simple. Take your new roll out of the box. The box will look like this:

Roll.
2. You will place the new roller in the same way the old one came out, making sure the small orange handle is on the right-side.

3. Find the dowel on the left-side of the roller. It will look like this:

Dowel.

4. Lean the roll to the left so the dowel goes in first, then drop the rest of the assembly into place. Reach in on the right side where the orange gear is, then push straight down into you hear the roll click into place.

Insert.

5. Put the imaging unit back in. You will set it in the same way you pulled it out.

6. Then, you will place your toner cartridge back in the machine.

7. Shut the cover on your printer.

And that’s it! You’re done.

Your new transfer roller should be properly installed so you can get back to work without any printer maintenance hassles.
